There is something a bit special about seeing our fabulous golden oldies out and about still enjoying themselves with the next generation of Shetland breeders and owners and certainly 25yr old Rhuri and 8yr old Anna are no exception. Thank you Nicky Marshall for sending this in to us. "Yesterday at the CSSPG (Central Scotland Shetland Pony Group) Summer Show, Anna (8) and her pony Harviestoun Rhuri. (25) had a fabulous day. 1st in Novice First Ridden, her first time ever doing this, 1st Lead rein then went on to be Ridden Champion winning 3 trophies. Then was awarded the best rider under 16 which she was delighted with. They then headed into the veteran class to take 1st also! Another trophy! They had also been competition get in young handlers, reserve champion, and the gelding class where they were 4th. Not bad for a wee fat 25yo Shetland and his 8yo owner! So proud of them both at the partnership they have!"

A great result at Minsterley Agricultural Show for Jan Sayer and Layston Showgirl who came 1st Small M & M and then went Reserve M & M Champion. Brilliant Shetland flag flying Jan, well done.
We are especially loving these gorgeous photographs of 4yr old Georgie Cunningham and Loanin Flame at Orkney Agricultural Show.
The photos are from Amanda Mclennan of her 4yr grandaughter Georgie & Flame who were 3rd in the child handler class and Flame was also 2nd in the Miniature Mare class with a 'larger' handler. Monday 24th September 2018 - Sale of Registered Shetland Ponies

News from all over the country and across the water and now back to the Midlands with news in from Glenn Smith from Fillongley yesterday and what a super day it was too. Robin's Brae Tilly was 1st in 2/3 yr old, Miniature Junior Champion, Miniature Champion, and Reserve Overall Champion. Gott Mabs - 1st in miniature mare class. Judge - Mr L Gregory We love to hear your news & even better when your sharing things with us for the first time 😊 Leanne Defty has this to say about their time at Equifest. Birchmoor Amelia and Lacey Wake have had a fantastic Equifest coming 2nd in the LR WHP and then winning the beginner stakes and coming 3rd in the evening performance of the LR M&M final being the highlights. Hykos Endeavour and Ella Defty also did very well coming 3rd in the restricted LR M&M (highest placed Shetland in the class) amongst other results (4th beginner stakes, 5th in the LR coloured class). Hykos Applause and Anya competed for the first time and did very well coming 2nd in the beginner stakes. Amelia and Lacey (Tan and White) Spot and Ella (black and White) and Asbo with Anya (black) I also just wanted to give a big shout out and thank you to their owner … Gail Conroy … for letting us ride these absolutely amazing little Shetlands. - Thanks Leanne (mum of Ella and aunt to Lacey) Busy weekend for Edwina Stacey-Marks & our thanks to you for sending this in to us. She said “We had a brilliant time at the weekend at Lowther Working Hunter held at Lowther Game Fair. Really well organised couple of days at a really friendly event. Rowan and Almondell Vulcan managed to get a 4th and a 1st on the first day going on to get reserve champion in the mini championship. Then on day two a 5th and amazing 3rd in the mini cradle stakes in a very strong class and they were the only lead rein pair in the class. Ending the day in the mini supreme championship. Sadly just missing out against some much older children but couldn’t of been more proud of them both.” - Photo credits to Mark Helm Let’s head North for some more fabulous results from the weekend this time sent to us by Erica Mancini Miniature Shetland Ramas Hope & Glory with owner and handler Caroline Courtney and sharer Rosa Mairs. Miniature Shetland 4yrs + - 2nd Mountain and moorland inhand - reserve champion - making us qualify for Morris champions of champions in 2 weeks and also the strathkelvin riding club champions show in September. Not only was Hope placed with her owner but she also was placed 2 x 1st prizes, 2 x seconds, a sixth and a seventh with the wonderful Rosa Mairs. A fabulous day for Team Hope. Lucy thought she got wet running through the water jump in her wellies with Fay & Winnie (Horninglow Whinnlater) at Pony Club but Clothie Flyn with Marion Wahle and Hollydell Raven with Ashleigh Reid have taken it to a whole new level. I bet it wasn’t just their boots that were a little damp!!
Thank you Elinor & Clothie Stud for letting us share in your fun This is where it all begins!! Susannah Muir might be more accustomed to an Exmoor pony but looks like Moonpenny Macavity is doing his best to convert her to Shetlands Susannah says..... “The 4 year old gelding owned and bred by Mary Rose Bryant and has been introducing us to the world of Shetlands. We have had great fun meeting lots of new people this season. He has done well at the Eastern Area breed shows, also at Derby & Suffolk Show picking up 2nd places. Mac has been a saint introducing my son Archie to horses. This image was the first time in a ridden class for both of them. Equifest In Hand News now, thank you Bobbi Shepherd for sending this in - Beltoy Rosetalon won a large gelding class and reserve Shetland champion at Equifest. Love my boy first champion at Equifest in hand. NEWS now from across the water, this time we head to Ireland & driving. Many congratulations Tara Hill & thank you for sharing this brilliant news. Dryfesdale Maybe (Freddie) completed a two day horse driving trials last weekend in Dualla. He won the VSE (very small equine) class and was presented with the ‘Best Cones’ of all 30 competitors from all classes. This means that Shetland’s are through to the All Ireland Championships at the end of this month. An AMAZING result from Equifest - Loutuspoint Cassius and Olivia Brightmore have taken Supreme of Show! This super new duo have only been together 3 months and there just isn't stopping them. Their route was Novice Supreme, M+M Supreme culminating in the Supreme of Show. A massive well done to all concerned and thank you to Emily Stobbart for kind permission to use her photograph. I am so sorry Lucy Bearcroft but I just had to share this as it is such a great photo of Winnie and Fay at their mini PC camp, but if you look carefully you will see the look of a astonishment on the face of the lady to the right as Lucy bravely runs through the deep water in her wellies....maybe not the best choice of footwear, did you catch any fish in them Lucy? |
