What a lovely sight. The video is of Horninglow Crummock Water and William Jones aged 9 popping ditches out hunting with the Sennybridge. Fantastic day out with the most lovely welcome. He kept up with the field and covered miles and miles. My only problem is he is outgrowing him and I do not have a replacement jockey!!! Oh Rhiannon Jones we feel your pain, when will these children stop growing but what fabulous memories they’ll have.

While we love what our beloved ponies do now, things were very different for them not so long ago. Here is Marley - (Stonecellars Kinross)and Lisa Walker’s son Alex (he's the 4th generation of their family to work with 'pit ponies'). The last ponies came out of Ellington pit 25yrs ago today so 24th Feb 1994 at noon. Marley & Alex were at the Beamish museum for the commemoration today thank you Lisa Walker for sending this in to us 😊 The photos are of Alex, Marley & previous generations. Practice makes perfect...... Blackertor Persia looking after her little jockey "We've owned her a few years now, she was backed by us and my older daughter who is now 11 did first ridden for a season. Unfortunately due to a growing child I put her on loan last year for the season and took her back over winter. LR practise has started this week for Persia and she's taking to it really well. Younger sister Sophia (3yrs) Will now take over the reins and so has started lessons too. Can't be easy on a saddlepad but here she is practising her balance." Rebecca O’Dwyer Sharptor Ambition aka Doug & his little jockey Dinky have had a mix of first time out showing together & just going out with friends. Dinky and Doug did their first show she is just 2 yrs old and Doug really looked after her!! She even got some ups and downs too 😍 They got a 2nd novice lead rein And a pink one ( luckily because all she wanted was a pink one ) in new combination . ( we have only had him a few weeks ) they have also been on a 5 mile ride across moorland, Doug doing his best to keep up with the others. Josie Roney The gorgeous rosettes have arrived for our 2018 Inhand Awards Scheme, however there is a small technical hitch in that some have arrived with 2019 on them. These will be remade asap but apologies to those who will be posted out in the second batch for the delay, (on the plus side we already have half of this year's rosettes!). We absolutely love them, especially the Special Recognition one. A huge thank you to Native Pony Bridles who sponsored the whole scheme and Kate even designed the bespoke rosettes as well. Breckan First Endeavour, “Eddie” to his friends & even though he was only broken last year, he’s taken fabulous care of his little jockey & handler Hannah (2.5years old)
They had a great time at the Orkney carriage driving show on Sunday. They did a young handlers class winning themselves a third. And then dressing up to do the concours class and won a third in it too. Great to see our next generation of ponies & riders. A huge congratulations and thank you to each and every pony entered in our first Inhand Awards Scheme & especially well done to Overall Points Winner, 2yr old Colt Pinglewood Thornton owned by Trudy Waterhouse whose card was bursting with Championships and won a very close points Championship. Trudy will receive a traditionally Hand Crafted, finest Sedgwick English leather Bridle or Filly Slip presented by Native Pony Bridles who have also kindly sponsored all awards and costs of the scheme this year. Marking the cards has been an absolute pleasure and has given us a real insight into the individual achievements of the ponies within this category and not just the winners. We have been so impressed that we have decided to introduce 'Special Recognition' rosette/s each year for members who haven't necessarily won, but whose whose results have caught our eye for a special reason. This year we have chosen to present 5 of these special awards.... As usual, many of our members joined us and it was a pleasure to all be together without ponies for once; although the topic of ponies was never far from anyone’s lips naturally. After a lovely buffet lunch, we worked our way through the overflowing raffle table and Lynda’s popular quiz, which was won by Buxted Stud for the second year in a row. The afternoon continued with a round of thanks to our team of helpers and of course an applause for the members themselves, who have continued to support the activities throughout 2018........ Something for everyone and a chance to meet up with friends new and old! All welcome. Eloise Webber with Oldvicarage Glamageddon trying something new for this season. Mum Claire has this to say... “Well these 2 had a fab start to their 2019 season. 3rd in the mini cross poles class. This pony is a superstar, he had 3 month off and only been back in work at the beginning of the school holidays. He took it all in his stride, someone now wants to do more jumping so that’s what we will be concentrating on this year with a few other things thrown in”. Leah Donald & Horninglow Penruddock start 2019 in style, Leah sporting her new Shetland Performance jacket too. "Leah and Dock off to a flying start for 2019 winning their arena eventing Class today - the new Shetland Performance Jacket looked fab as they flew round". 👍🏻💕 Flying so fast mum Claire had trouble getting photos... well done Leah.
