The La Liga Consistency Awards are designed to award the successes of horses and ponies during the outdoor qualifying season. Competitors can gain points towards the La Liga Awards for the most consistent animal, when placed fifth and above in an eligible class at a qualifying show. These points are added to the relevant award league tables and totalled up in September, the end of the outdoor season.
Amazing day for the Shetland Performance Team & JPL Racing. Thank you Bath Racecourse & to the supportive crowd who shouted loud & dug deep for their charity.
Well done Jockeys who not only showed everyone our beloved breed but went round collecting money & chatting to the punter, they even got the bookie to put money in the bucket. Finally well done Bella Bride, John Lamb & all the helper/parents
Some lovely result from Equistars Show & only Lola’s second show off the lead rein.
Lola - Mae Hughes and Bouquet of Crafton attended Equistars show where they came home with handfuls of rosettes and prizes. They kicked off by winning the best walk and halt class then taking novelty champion, winning the first year first ridden and taking reserve mini champion then winning under 10's young handler and being handler champion.
A super achievement for 5 year old Lola-Mae who was only attending her second show off the lead rein.
We love the kilt Maisie, well done.
"Maisie Whitehouse and Hackamore Holly Blue, 1st in the Child Handler today and Wisbech & District Riding Club Show!!" Samanatha Rose
While we’re on the run up to HOYS it struck us that our special breed has really given some very young children the chance of a lifetime.
Lilly Richardson we think is the youngest ever at age 5 to qualify a
M and M for HOYS First Ridden
Well done Lilly and the super safe Briar Snowman , doing his job as a fantastic first ridden & I’m sure he will take good care of her on that big stage too.
So with HOYS just around the corner how’s the prep going??
Although Jen Sellers is the youngest jockey in the Open D/E/S she seems to be taking the “laid back approach”
Nellie or Hackamore Poetic Justice to give her, her proper title & 9yrs old Jen are actually only in their 1st year of doing First Ridden together. Mum Nicola said “Best breed for sure. Every child should have the opportunity to ride a fabulous Shetland. Whatever the outcome in the TopSpec Arena. we know for sure they will have a ball. Jen wouldn’t want to bring another pony home.
Miniature Champion - Seva Pom Pom owned by Cath Davies (Image Purchased)
Ridden Class winner - Firle Jackson (First Ridden) ridden byLily Walker at Jackson's second show.
Nina Anderson-Smith had a strong finish to a very successful season with Brewards Ellie who was 2nd in the 2&3yr old class and Brewards Pixie who was 2nd in the mares.
Unfortunately there wasn't a Junior Championship.

A lovely photograph from Jane & Glen Smith that has just arrived on their door step of Robin's Brae Tilly who won Best Bred in Shetland at the Breed Show.
A cracking shot thank you Jane.
In amongst the madness and activity in the middle of a show day everyone needs a quiet moment and a hug.
This lovely shot was snapped by Peggy Hampton of 6yr old Evie Walker and 5yr old Pirouette Midnight Debut before their first ever Ridden Class at Minsterley Show on Saturday.
5year George and Meliver Jewel at our local riding club show today had a great show 1st m&m then reserve in hand champion and 4th in the overall supreme. Rachel Cole Hudson
Well done George.
Well done Skye and thank you Jan Sayer for sending us this lovely result today.
"We went to local RC Show Penkridge today with Lornarth Gethins Flame and Skye Lilly Powell. Won 1 x 1st. 2 x 2nds and Reserve In hand Champion. From ridden to Champion what a little star. I'm chuffed, he's had so many children on him this summer I'm very proud to be his mum lol!"
.A yearling Shetland filly will be making an epic trip from her birthplace on Orkney to California, where she will help found a new stud.
