A huge congratulations and thank you to each and every pony entered in our first Inhand Awards Scheme & especially well done to Overall Points Winner, 2yr old Colt Pinglewood Thornton owned by Trudy Waterhouse whose card was bursting with Championships and won a very close points Championship. Trudy will receive a traditionally Hand Crafted, finest Sedgwick English leather Bridle or Filly Slip presented by Native Pony Bridles who have also kindly sponsored all awards and costs of the scheme this year. Marking the cards has been an absolute pleasure and has given us a real insight into the individual achievements of the ponies within this category and not just the winners. We have been so impressed that we have decided to introduce 'Special Recognition' rosette/s each year for members who haven't necessarily won, but whose whose results have caught our eye for a special reason. This year we have chosen to present 5 of these special awards.... FULL RESULTS CLICK HERE

A group of registered Shetland ponies who race, show, drive and charm the crowds have been taking the country by storm. The Shetland Performance Display Team, which is based in Wiltshire, has been in demand as far as Yorkshire to entertain the public at shows. The squad, which usually numbers between six and 15, has been a hit in South West England, promoting the versatility of the breed and raising money for charity. The team’s manager Isabella Bride said that while the display predominantly focused on races and relays, it is open to anyone who wanted to join and show off their Shetlands. As usual, many of our members joined us and it was a pleasure to all be together without ponies for once; although the topic of ponies was never far from anyone’s lips naturally. After a lovely buffet lunch, we worked our way through the overflowing raffle table and Lynda’s popular quiz, which was won by Buxted Stud for the second year in a row. The afternoon continued with a round of thanks to our team of helpers and of course an applause for the members themselves, who have continued to support the activities throughout 2018........ A sneaky peek at the Welsh Rider February issue! On the cover is the lovely Sapphire Classic and Frankie Currell - the Shetland best of breed at Olympia, The London International Horse Show, Click image left to go directly to the Welsh Rider fb page. We had a lovely time we had at the Driven Performance awards dinner on Sunday. We met some of our lovely members along with a after dinner speech by the fascinating & funny Bloodstock agent, David Minton

Mum Claire has this to say... “Well these 2 had a fab start to their 2019 season. 3rd in the mini cross poles class. This pony is a superstar, he had 3 month off and only been back in work at the beginning of the school holidays. He took it all in his stride, someone now wants to do more jumping so that’s what we will be concentrating on this year with a few other things thrown in”. Leah Donald & Horninglow Penruddock start 2019 in style, Leah sporting her new Shetland Performance jacket too. "Leah and Dock off to a flying start for 2019 winning their arena eventing Class today - the new Shetland Performance Jacket looked fab as they flew round". 👍🏻💕 Flying so fast mum Claire had trouble getting photos... well done Leah.
