Karen Duncan along with Mya and 18 year old Harviestoun Romanov made the 11 hour journey from Kirriemuir in Scotland for the Breed Show. Great results with a 5th in Hoys, 3rd First ridden,2nd junior ridden, 1st Ridden veteran then to the WHP ring to pick up 1st in the cradle stakes and 2nd open workers . Well worth the trip. Just look at the size of this Lead Rein class that Tully & Avomlie Abby Flair won at The Big Horse & Pony Show, Bideford. Stevenstone & Torrington Farmers show, it was the duos first win and we think there may be many more to come! Thank you Liz Muglestone for sharing these fab photos.
Sometimes its the smiles outside the ring that are just as important, thank you Carrie Cook. "Thank you to everyone involved for a great breed show despite the weather. Well done to everyone that went and braved the elements. I love this photo of Mabel as it sums up what it is all about, she smiled all the way (too young to compete this year). Mabel was so chuffed to ride Team Hackpens, Stepley Danae back to the lorry from the stables despite the weather." Henley and Cotmullion in the Nick of Time have done amazingly well at their first proper go at ridden showing today winning lead rein champion at Wombourne show. Henley had a little fall in the working hunter class but mum Lisa said " iv never seen anyone get up and get back on so quick with a huge smile on his face".
They won some beautiful trophies and ribbons but also the most wonderful prize donated by Zoe Snape, a lovely saddle pad with numnah and girth."
We know many of us just packed & ran after our classes at yesterday’s Breed Show but Equinepix photographers did an amazing job in that foul weather. So now you’ve hopefully dried out please sit down with a cuppa, enjoy & maybe just buy 1 or 2 or if you missed the show visit the gallery by clicking on the above photo and enjoy seeing all the competitors from the warm.
Photo as promised, here he is in all his glory.... 2018 Breed Show Supreme Champion- Foldhouse Little Lord Valentine and Su Woodcock. Reserve Supreme - Eiger Oliver (miniature Champion) - Frank Hodder A fabulous, but very wet show. A huge congratulations to Su, Frank and to each and every champion and competitor. In hand news from today. Frankie Currell had some fabulous results with her homebred yearling. CARMILO TEMPTATION won the standard yearling class, was ring best bred in Wales and novice and then overall bred in Wales Frankie said “we are super super chuffed. We were also 3rd in yeald mare 7+ class with Lovington Black Pearl and 8th with Bonkers of Crafton in the 7+ I would like to add a massive thank you to Equinepix who have somehow managed to take some beautiful photos in very tricky weather.
More ridden news from the Breed show, our thanks to Jo Challinor who had this to say ”Super proud of Millie and Abacus Keira she never lets us down and Millie you rode your socks off in the pouring rain soaked through is a understatement” They came home with a very credible 7th in the hoys & 1st in the First Ridden Results coming in from a very wet breed show. You know it’s horrid when the judges let the children keep their coats on!!! Karen Hodges Sharptor Silver Skyline was 1st in lead rein open and reserve ridden champion. Ruby riding so well in what can only be described as a down pour. I have to say from leadrein to open ridden all the children did brilliantly in the horrid weather & still managing to smile Some of our Shetland Performance display team were at Wessex Shetland pony group summer show last weekend & what a show they had from racing ponies to show ponies. Platinumdale Mayflower (Mavis) came first in the lead rein with Ellie. First ridden Kilshane Almond and Rebecca Sartin in 1st, Mavis and Bethany Sartin in 2nd, Bluebell’s Truffle in 3rd with Molly Marston. Open ridden Almond and Rebecca in 1st and Bethany and Truffles in 2nd. Ridden champion was Almond and reserve was Truffles. Almond then went on to be supreme champion of show. Then onto the inhand results - Sedgehill Olivia won a strong standard mare class, 2nd in the blacks then standard senior champion, she then stood overall standard champion. Thanks to Bella Bride, you can always hop over to our display team page to see what else they’ve been up to. Our thanks to Stephanie Brown for sending us her news. Many congratulations Erin . 5 year old Erin Reed and her pony Strocherie Ennya at the North Eastern Counties WPCA summer show on 19th August. 1st open m&m Lead Rein then mini champion. Overall supreme reserve ridden champion.
Meanwhile, Rowena Proven judged the performance ring. The three judges then came together to judge the Supreme Championship, where they chose the Merkisayre Stud’s home bred standard chestnut stallion, Merkisayre Kelvin. The Reserve Supreme went to Clothie Night Lightning, a black gelding bred by the Clothie Stud, Aberdeenshire and ridden by Emily Laurenson. The committee would like to thank Helen Budge for the use of the P.A. system; Joanna Sandison for making the lunch for the judges and stewards and the Rendall family for all their help setting up and dismantling the show field. A huge thank you to the hard working ring and gate stewards: Abigail Robertson, Melanie Henderson, Melody Goodlad, Susan Goodlad, Leighton Anderson, Rory Goodlad and Valila Stevenson. Thank you to our sponsors for continuing to support our show: Harbro, A. Jarmson, Steve Rendall and Anderson & Co. A special mention has to go to Helen Thomson, as without all her hard work and dedication, the show would not have gone on.
When showing is so much more than rosettes . Bobbi Shepherd & Betltoy Rosetalon were Overall inhand Champion and then supreme of the show at Magpas. More importantly & the reason Bobbi attend this particular show is because it’s in aid of MAGPAS East of England’s Air Ambulances & we cant think of a better reason to go showing. www.magpas.org.uk When your 28 and not ready to retire Riccalton Flint you are a legend. Flint I hear was a little put out about doing LR so added a few canter strides into his show the previous week, just to prove he’s still got it!! But this week.... The Central Scotland Shetland Pony Group Show yesterday and the boy did good! Riccalton Flint was on his bestest behavior to pick up 3rd in the Coloured Gelding Class. 2nd in the Veteran Class and 2nd in the Lead Rein Class before going on to be Reserve Ridden Champion! What a total star this pony is and Champion! What a total star and has been all his life! Eleanor & Mirkwood Ponies
