It’s always nerve wracking taking the babies out for the first time, Well done Team Nana News from Devon County Sharptor Silver Skyline was 3rd in M & M leadrein & top Shetland behind two gorgeous Dartmoors. She was also 2nd in the Shetland Ridden (top lead rein) behind the stallion Coryhill Black Prince. Massive congratulations to Karen Hodge(who sent this in to us) & her little jockey who must have ridden beautifully. I was lucky enough to be back stepping for a Fell friend today at Wolverley Driving Club Camp at Lincomb Equestrian and met this lovely chap, Edern Pencampwr owned by Judi Reeve. Shown Inhand, you may even have seen him at theShetland Performance Show last year and a working stallion most of his life 14yr old Pencampwr was found on Dragon Driving by Judi just over 2yrs ago and has been brought on slowly with his driving since. Today was his first outing at an organised event and he looked super. Hopefully we may see you at the show again this year Judi. Kate Hampton Well what a lovely surprise in this mornings post. Thank you to June Brown & her mum for sending us these raffle prizes all the way from Shetland. They will be raffled at this years Performance Show so make sure you buy your tickets. The canvas is of the two stallions Urban of Knowe and his grandson Shoormal Veldersi & the hat is beautiful Shetland knit, so will keep you nice & cosy . If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize please bring them to the show on Saturday morning.
It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing today of Jenny Preece of the Wenlockedge Stud in Shropshire, founded in 1989. Jenny was a wonderful lady with a kind word and a smile for all and was an equally passionate Ragdoll breeder alongside her Shetlands. She will be sadly missed and we pass our condolences on to her family, friends and all who knew and loved her. Bring home the reds Jenny x Breaking ponies to ride, bring them on and getting them out for the first time can be daunting but not for Platinumdale Mayflower and rider Molly Marston. Mayflower was bred by George Gold in Scotland. Gillian Marston said as she has just been broken, we were being a bit careful as it was not only first time at pony club but first time with a lot of others in a very big field! (and I wasn't sure if she would try and roll in the water) But she's got a really great temperament. Here’s a picture of them in the water and Bella (there just in case) didn't have wellies!! So poor Bella got very wet feet. Well done Molly & Mayflower for completing lots of firsts in one outing & well done Bella for being the best support crew First time on grass this year for Horninglow Penrudock & Owner Leah Donald at Greenland Equestrian WH event, winning one class, second in the other two, then took both the reserve championships against some very good ponies, in the last class some of the fences were huge, one was 75 cm. Thank you Leah for sending this in.
