Well done Jockeys who not only showed everyone our beloved breed but went round collecting money & chatting to the punter, they even got the bookie to put money in the bucket. Finally well done Bella Bride, John Lamb & all the helper/parents Some lovely result from Equistars Show & only Lola’s second show off the lead rein. Lola - Mae Hughes and Bouquet of Crafton attended Equistars show where they came home with handfuls of rosettes and prizes. They kicked off by winning the best walk and halt class then taking novelty champion, winning the first year first ridden and taking reserve mini champion then winning under 10's young handler and being handler champion. A super achievement for 5 year old Lola-Mae who was only attending her second show off the lead rein. Lyndsey Jackson
While we’re on the run up to HOYS it struck us that our special breed has really given some very young children the chance of a lifetime. Lilly Richardson we think is the youngest ever at age 5 to qualify a M and M for HOYS First Ridden Well done Lilly and the super safe Briar Snowman , doing his job as a fantastic first ridden & I’m sure he will take good care of her on that big stage too.
So with HOYS just around the corner how’s the prep going?? Although Jen Sellers is the youngest jockey in the Open D/E/S she seems to be taking the “laid back approach” Nellie or Hackamore Poetic Justice to give her, her proper title & 9yrs old Jen are actually only in their 1st year of doing First Ridden together. Mum Nicola said “Best breed for sure. Every child should have the opportunity to ride a fabulous Shetland. Whatever the outcome in the TopSpec Arena. we know for sure they will have a ball. Jen wouldn’t want to bring another pony home.
Miniature Champion - Seva Pom Pom owned by Cath Davies (Image Purchased)
Ridden Class winner - Firle Jackson (First Ridden) ridden byLily Walker at Jackson's second show. Nina Anderson-Smith had a strong finish to a very successful season with Brewards Ellie who was 2nd in the 2&3yr old class and Brewards Pixie who was 2nd in the mares. Unfortunately there wasn't a Junior Championship. Professional photos - Equinepix |
