downs group summer show

A lovely report from Jill Jones of the Downs Group Summer Show, thank you Jilly.
THE DOWNS SHETLAND PONY GROUP We hold two shows a year one in Spring at Buckhurst Park , Withyham and one in Summer.
This year our Summer show on 9th September was held at a new venue SYLVANDENE at Blindley Heath at the beautiful home of Belinda and Gordon Jacques.
It was a lovely sunny day for our two judges ,Mrs Doreen Tindale in the standard ring and Mr Peter Tindale in the miniature ring.

It proved to be a very successful day with a lot of happy exhibitors .
Lots of children of varying ages enjoyed their young handler class.
These two rings are affiliated to SPSBS but we also hold an unaffiliated Fun Ring for registered and unregistered Shetland ponies , this year our judge was Mrs Katie Good , who did an excellent job running a ring full of laughing happy children , the Fancy Dress class was amazing !
The children all win rosettes and are given a free prize each time .
The overall standard Champion and Supreme of show was the 4yo black mare Cranford Fantasia .
Her dam is Isle of Mona Fringe , her sire and our reserve Supreme is the Ridden Champion Cranford Hector (by Earnbrig Reynard ) who having enjoyed a career as a stud Stallion was castrated at the age of 16 .
Hector has taken his young rider Florence Taylor to much success in First Ridden and young handler classes , he is now 19 yo and after winning the Open Veteran classes at Heathfield this year will be aimed at Veteran classes in 2019 .
