A super end to the season for our very own Shetland Performance Display team Manager Isabella Bride who did fantastically at the Wessex Shetland Pony Group show taking Supreme with Sedgehill Olivia whilst her other mare, Bluebell's Truffle and Molly won the Lead Rein and stood Ridden Champion. Bella, along with the rest of the Display Team give so much of their time freely to raise money for charity at events and shows throughout the year and will soon be announcing how much the team has raised this year and presented to the Wallace & Gromit Appeal for Bristol Children's Hospital. Well done Bella, we couldn't be more proud of you. You can support and follow our Display Team's own fb page: Photo credits: Lynda Rowland & Jo Sartin

From Racing pony to show pony. .....Myla Coppins and Bellshill Bluebell competing at Tumpy Green Showing Show this weekend where they took 1st in the M & M, 1st in the First Ridden then taking Reserve champion and also qualifying for the trailblazers.
The other photo is of them “giving some air” to the racing fences at a display earlier in the year, just proving shetlands can do it all. Just in case anyone has forgotten that Halloween is nearly upon us a quick look at this great outfit of Emily Dixon's will soon remind you! Emily and Julmar Maybelle were at a dressage comp today winning best dressed & gaining 5th place. This was the first test for this combination so a huge success. Well done Emily

Pinglewood Barbie Doll aka Barbie with jockey Lucinda Copnall John showing small is most definitely mighty. at OBH North pony club Showjumping Show at Bury Farm. This is the 30cm, where Lu and Barbie came 2nd individual and were part of the Whaddon team who were placed 2nd team. Mum Jenny Copnell said "We love taking her out to these shows. No other Shetlands at all! Nothing much below 12hh! ". So lovely to see shetlands holding their own against bigger ponies. More brilliant results from STARS this time from Caroline Bradley. Massive occasion & massive achievements from this little pair 🎉
Kinness Valrosa and my 4 year old daughter Amelia-Grace Bradley. We attended Stars champion of champions in 3 classes. We did the Lead rein M&M. We didnt make the final 8 line up but after looking at the marks were 12th out of 38 ponies. Then we did the best turned out and again didn't make the final 8 but were 11th out of 32. THE HIGHLIGHT of the weekend was the young handler class. There were 34 in the class and Amelia-Grace was the youngest one in there and did her show all on her own. Our little Shetland took the whole atmosphere in her stride and looked after my daughter in the huge arena. Their number was called forward for the final placing and they won Rising Star Award. I am so proud of them both. Clothie Night Hascosay took part in the young handlers and the veteran classes at STARS coming second in both of them beating around 40 ponies Alison Hodgkinson has this to say about their amazing pony and speed running Hannah. - We are over the moon!! he was possibly the highest placed Shetty of the show. We nearly lost him to colic three weeks ago. How blinking proud are we. For Hannah the best way to celebrate is.... having cheesy chips with your identical sister. Amelia Allsop and Kiayaz Evita at STARS. Sent to us by Joanna V Allsop "My little stars at STARS, no placing for Evie but what a show to be part of, just amazing: the flowers, the drapes, the music, the finalist rosettes, it was just magical. Huge congratulations to the winners. And don't worry Evie..... we still love you." It is every breeder's hope that when they part with their stock they will find good homes and go on to have happy healthy lives. For Julia Gibson of the Coppice Stud receiving updates on these two ponies is even more special as it comes all the way from Austria.
Owner Rachel Lechner said "..who would of thought 18 years ago when I purchased Chessman and Edmund that they would be Austrian National Champion Gold and Silver medal winners in Lead Rein Mounted Games". 22 yr old Coppice Chessman out of Glenfall Contessa and 22 yr old Coppice Edmund out of Lockinge Elspeth, both by Coppice Bandsman usually drive as a pair but have successfully added another string to their bow with mounted games. What a lovely update Julia thank you and extra special to see this wonderful pair living life to the full and obviously much loved so many miles away. Today we all took the day off and headed off to the New Forest with the girls (Gerratoun Cresta & Oakgorve Chantilly) with some friends. We had a really beautiful drive in some fantastic weather - if only every day in life was this good. Girls really enjoyed themselves playing in the ford and came back 6.5 miles later feeling ready to go again! Its days like these I have to pinch myself that I am really doing this. There were 69 ponies entered and forward for the sale from the length and breadth of Shetland, on par with the number of entries in the two previous years, which was good to see. The Pony Breeders of Shetland Association (PBSA) were delighted to welcome Mr Charles Seward from Carmarthen to judge at the Show on the Thursday evening. There was strong competition in all classes with the judge commenting particularly on the high quality of the foals he was seeing which was not common elsewhere. The main show awards were hotly contested with Amanda Slater, Tresta, prevailing and taking overall show champion with her home bred 3 year old piebald filly Breckenlea Little Gift. Reserve Champion and Champion Foal at the Sale was taken by Bergli Stud and their standard black colt foal Bergli Valdi. It’s our first year on the award scheme with my daughter Sophie and her Pony Tara. They have had great fun at a range of activities this year, including thoroughly enjoying the 10 mile Raby Castle Charity Ride last weekend in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Jane Richardson 🙂 Photo permission by Eileen Charlton. Due to the highs & lows of the D/E/S class at HOYS we can also now announce that Sharptor Bellisima with Grace Litherland not only picked up 10th place but also the highest mare and Bellisima & Libby Grota were the only shetland combination in the Junior M & M ridden on Sunday taking 9th place. What a special pony taking 3 different children into the arena from first ridden to open.
A lovely show report from Lel Mayfield about Supernova World Championships Arena UK. We can’t think of a better way to spend time with your granddaughter than showing your Shetlands ☺️ It really really was our last show for 2018. A VERY long but successful day at Supernova World Championships Arena UK. A much better shetland turnout than originally thought with very lovely ponies forward. Plumtree Bonanza 1st in Miniature 2/3 years. Coedgleision Polly 1st Miniature mare/gelding 4+ and 2nd Watson Chickpea. Beeftub Bell Emileo 5th /11 in very strong standard 4+ Watson Chickpea 2nd in Open Piebald and Emily was Best SPSBS Junior handler and 2nd in Shetland/Miniature horse Junior handler age group. Thank you to Amanda Breakell and team. Photographs by Amy Griffiths. Brilliant as usual. We have had so many enquires in the last few weeks about our fabulous new Inhand Awards Scheme from people who were unaware of it or didn't quite understand it that it seems we must apologise for not advertising our Scheme properly.
We are delighted to have already received more entries than we imagined in it's first year but to make up for not reaching everyone clearly we have accepted some late entries from those who have enquired and feel it is only fair to also extend this opportunity to everyone (points will be taken from the beginning of the 2018 Awards year) and to show you the gorgeous prizes all sponsored by Native Pony Bridles. The Scheme entry is £15 (additional ponies or schemes £10) which gives that pony entry into all of the relevant 13 categories. The Overall winner with the most points on any one category will receive a beautifully hand crafted, finest Sedgwick English leather Bridle from Native Pony Bridles and a gorgeous banner sash which can be hung anywhere with pride. Gorgeous Pom Pom Rosettes made exclusively to our own design with category printed on tails & Personalised Certificate to 3rd place in each Category. Points are accrued from afflliated Shows - SPSBS, SSADL, VHS, CHAPS & BSPA and there is also an Unaffiliated Category. Points can be entered from 6 shows under 5 different Judges. You can join through our website by clicking here or by sending £15 to [email protected] and dropping us a fb pm or email. |
