 While we love what our beloved ponies do now, things were very different for them not so long ago.
Here is Marley - (Stonecellars Kinross)and Lisa Walker’s son Alex (he's the 4th generation of their family to work with 'pit ponies'). The last ponies came out of Ellington pit 25yrs ago today so 24th Feb 1994 at noon. Marley & Alex were at the Beamish museum for the commemoration today thank you Lisa Walker for sending this in to us 😊 The photos are of Alex, Marley & previous generations.
